History
Around 1500 to 500 BCE the climate has dried markedly and the horse appears on the walls, harnessed to light two-wheeled chariots drawn in the convention known as 'flying gallop': all four limbs stretched horizontally.
These chariots attest to the opening of trade routes across the Sahara, linking the Mediterranean to the Sahelian kingdoms. Human figures become schematic, and weaponry — javelins, shields — more prominent.
